Do you sometimes wish for an earlier, simpler time, when Sega was still flying high in the console business and the femme fatales of Soul Calibur weren't shoe-ins for excrutiating back pain? Well, Namco Bandai apparently heard our wishes, which, while creepy, means we'll be seeing the original Soul Calibur on Xbox Live Arcade.
Unfortunately, Namco Bandai remains tight-lipped for the most part. We can assume Soul Calibur will hit Live before Soul Calibur IV's July 29 release date, but any other info is clasped closely to Namco Bandai's collective chest, as Nightmare would clutch Soul Edge before cleaving you in two for looking at him funny.
However, regardless of whether or not Soul Calibur receives any tangible upgrades, it's still an incredible game. So toss some dust back on that old Dreamcast and bury it in the recesses of your closet; this here is Xbox territory.

Editor's Take: Xbox Live Arcade is building a nice little stable of top-tier fighting games, and Soul Calibur looks to continue that tradition of excellence -- especially if it's online-enabled. I'm slightly perplexed at the lack of a PS3 version, however; but maybe it's merely waiting in the wings.
