Midway announced today that the Xbox 360 would finally be receiving Unreal Tournament 3 this summer. Unreal Tournament 3 will come with some new content, featuring two new characters and five new expansive maps. Aside from some minor additions, the game will come with split screen capability for multiplayer; this will be an Xbox 360 exclusive feature, so if you don't have Xbox Live you can still enjoy multiplayer fun.
"We're very excited to be bringing Unreal Tournament 3 to Xbox 360," said Mark Rein, vice president, Epic Games. "Whether playing against our fantastic AI 'bots' or playing online with friends over Xbox Live, UT3 is a great fast-paced game with spectacular environments, weaponry and vehicles. Its comprehensive multiplayer offerings are truly going to shine on Xbox Live."
To sweeten the deal a little more, Mark Rein confirmed in an interview with OXM that Unreal Tournament 3 will feature some sort of Gears of War 2 surprise. While not specifying what we can expect in terms of content, we can only hope that it'll be worth it. Fingers crossed for a demo or early beta access. Those may be high hopes, but it is fun to wish isn't it?
