So, it seems Capcom not only wants to "do with games what Marvel did with comics," but it looks like they want to do with comics what Marvel did with comics, too.
Four comics are on the way, and so far, two have been named in Bionic Commando and Lost Planet. Published by Devil's Due, these two comics, plus the identities of the remaining two, will make their debut soon at the San Diego Comic Con.
Newsarama has interviews with both Devil's Due President Josh Blaylock and Capcom's Senior V.P. of Licensing, Germaine Giola, in which they talk a little more about the two impending titles.
Newsarama asks how much input Capcom will have into these books, and whether the various games' producers and art directors will have any say on the style of the books, to which Giola replies "Absolutely. These will be officially licensed books that represent the properties and again work to build the franchises for the fans and beyond. Producers on the various games will be involved in the creation of the books, helping to direct art style as well as plotlines."
Giola also reveals that there will probably be a mix between game-story adaptations and original material, plus to expect cross-promotions with the games, such as possible mini-comics packed in with future titles.
In addition, there may be word coming soon on UDON and their work with Capcom and Street Fighter.
Blaylock reveals that Bionic Commando will debut this August with his own creation, Mercy Sparx, in a 99-cent special, as well as clarifying the inner-workings of the relationship, such as working with differing art styles.
