It's taken them a few years, but Microsoft's gaming division has finally posted an operating profit for its full fiscal year.
For the full year ended June 30, the Entertainment and Devices division saw a 34 percent rise in sales from $6.1 billion to $8.1 billion, with operating profits rising from a loss of almost $2 billion last year to a $426 million profit.
During their fourth-quarter ended June 30, revenues sat at nearly $1.6 billion. That's a rise of about 37 percent from $1.2 billion during the same period a year ago. The division saw an operating loss of $188 million during the quarter, which isn't too shabby compared to the $1.2 billion loss a year ago.
8.7 million 360s were shipped during the full fiscal year, up from 6.6 million last year. Fourth quarter shipments were also up, raising from 700,000 in 2007 to 1.3 million. The news comes just after Nintendo revealed that the Wii has become the best-selling console on the market, just above the Xbox 360.
