If this ends up being true, the guys and gals over at Harmonix have proven once again that they have some of the biggest hearts in the video game industry. A rumor is swirling around that a very special track pack will be hitting the Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation store next week. The bundle of songs is entitled the "Pax Pack," and will feature acts that are scheduled to perform at the Penny Arcade Expo this weekend. After you see the songs you'll probably ask yourself, "Self, why would I want to buy these songs, they are not by Metallica?." Well, let me tell you. Harmonix and MTV Games are going to be donating all proceeds from the sales of the "Pax Pack" to Penny Arcade's Child's Play charity, which does a damn good job of helping out children's hospitals all around the globe. Good on you kind sirs, good on you.
While none of this is 100% confirmed until Harmonix has their press conference tomorrow afternoon, we're just going to say that this "might" be happening. There is one catch to us saying that though. Log onto Xbox Live, browse the store, and feast your eyes on the Rock Band ad that pops up.
The Pax Pack
Jonathan Coulton - "Skullcrusher Mountain"
MC Frontalot - "Livin' on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe"
Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - "Shhh…."
If Harmonix verifies this tomorrow, I can guarantee that I will be buying this pack the minute it goes up for download. It helps that the songs are pretty good, but it's even better when you know that your rocking out is helping kids in need.
