This week Famitsu let it drop that Sheng Long (aka Gouken in Japan) will be appearing in Street Fighter IV cabinets all around the world - starting now! Codes were sent out to Japanese arcade owners but if you have a Street Fighter IV cabinet in North America, I'm sure you'll be able to snag yourself a code soon enough. Keep us posted if you happen to see Sheng Long on American soil.
For extra points, could someone tell me what was on the cover of EGM when they first ran the Sheng Long April Fools story?
This marks the first time ever that Sheng Long, whose origins lie in a mistranslation way back in the original Street Fighter II, has been a playable character. Electronic Gaming Monthly published a hoax story in 1992 about how to fight against Ryu and Ken's sensei in the game, and the story's somehow remained in the minds of gamers ever since. Capcom's only too happy to make the hoax come true, though, it seems -- Sheng Long/Gouken was thought killed by Akuma long ago, but now he's back in SFIV, complete with a "forbidden" Shoryuken and a repertoire of dangerous assassin moves. -- 1UP
Damn. First Capcom announces that they're making remaking the Resident Evil remake for the Wii and now Sheng Long is actually in a Street Fighter game. I feel like I'm going backwards in time but instead of getting skinnier and better looking, I'm just getting older and fatter. Something must be wrong here.
