With Gears of War 2 only weeks away, Cliff Bleszkinski is sharing some minor details about the upcoming title. Unlike Gears of War, Epic has taken the time to make Gears of War 2 a little more casual gamer compatible. Does this spell doom for us hardcore Gears of War fans?
The answer is no. Epic has taken the time to make the game more appealing to the casual fanbase, but it seems this will only have an affect on the campaign.
"Thanks to the success of Guitar Hero and Wii, we have seen lots of new people play games, which is a great thing. So for Gears 2 we've made the tutorial mode more accessible, and our casual mode couldn't be easy enough. We want casual gamers to get involved this time. Yes it has blood and monsters, but it is also a story about loss and redemption." -- CasualGaming.biz
At least this doesn't hinder the experience for us hardcore fans of the franchise. As long as Insane Mode still kicks my ass repeatedly, I'm more than fine with casualizing the casual mode. It allows new gamers a chance to indulge themselves in an embracing, bloody, violent, and passionate story about loss and redemption.
We all deserve to experience that.
