TGS 2008: Saints Row 2

I only played this demo because there was no line for it. It turns out there was a reason for that. The demo was in some US urban city slum and the character you play is a woman decked in street gear. There is no mission or goal, you are just free to explore. I ventured into a building, which was at first quite nice as GTA IV generally restricts this, but I left pretty soon when I discovered there was nothing to do inside. I blew up a few cars, killed a few pedestrians and the whole scenario soon got out of hand although I had no problem killing the policemen sent to arrest me.
I was bored after five minutes and I've done this thing hundreds of times on a dozen games now. THQ even threw in what seems like every gun in the game at my disposal, but rocket launchers and uzis no longer excite me as they once did. Nothing I saw in the demo was innovative or looked particularly fun and the graphics were average. Maybe the story will be stellar, because aside from that I can't really see anyone actually wanting this game. In fact, why is this game being made?
