Banjo and Kazooie in 'For HD Eyes Only'

Congratulations, Rare. You've just lost a customer.
Word has gotten around that the demo of Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is rather hard to read on a standard-definition TV. As such, there have been complaints about it in places such as the NeoGAF forums, and as such, Rare Community Manager George K. told everyone that they were looking into the text issue for the retail version of the game. So that was good. Until this came back:
Unfortunately, this is an issue that doesn't look like it will get changed. I don't want to bore you with the technical side of things (I really don't understand it all myself), but the long and the short of it is that the text you see in the demo will be the same as that which you find in the retail version of the game.Well, there's always the chance of a patch, at least... right?
I'm sorry that we weren't able to address this issue as nothing would please us more than turning all your complaints into gleeful responses, but it's simply something that's too expensive in terms of time, resources and money to alter.
Please don't kill me. This *doesn't* mean we don't care about or respect the community. This *does* mean that, when all's said and done, we're only human. -- George K., to the NeoGAF Forums
I really don't know at this stage, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. Again, I appreciate that this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I'd rather be up front and honest with you than spin you a line. -- George K., to the NeoGAF ForumsFine, fair enough. If they can't be bothered to make the text legible, I can't be bothered to turn over 40 bucks for it. Which is too bad-- besides wanting to play the game, probably more than anything else on Xbox 360 this holiday season, that sounds like a damn good price via Amazon.
Seriously, did no one learn anything from Dead Rising? Not everyone has an HDTV, and in the current economy, I don't think everyone is in a rush to get one, much as we might like to.
"Only human?" Fair enough, though in that same spirit of fairness, people are supposed to be able to learn from the mistakes of others, as well as past mistakes. On the other hand, if sites like this can make it day to day with new content, then perhaps that's still expecting too much.
Frankly, I place the blame on Microsoft. They have approval processes for this and that, a standard for games to have a certain amount of Achievements, and they can't even make sure everyone can read the damn text? I don't think so. You can do better than this, Microsoft. But for some reason, it's become painfully apparent that you won't.
I'm sorry, Banjo. I wanted to give you a fair shot, but if they can't be bothered, I can't be bothered. Best of luck to you. Maybe all the people who have HDTVs, or don't care about the text, or maybe are just illiterate will make the venture worthwhile.
