GDC 2009: Fable II DLC, Fable III Hints, and the Next Big Thing at E3?

For starters, the next Fable II downloadable content, "See the Future," will be available in only a matter of weeks, he reveals. "The next DLC comes out in the spring. We're in the spring now so don't think months, think more like weeks," he says.
He goes on to tell Kotaku that the experience is not only more story driven than the last DLC, but will give players a glimpse of things yet to come:
"The first (DLC) was done very close to Fable II and the team was tired and we sort of pushed ourselves to get something out early for the fans. This time we've taken a little bit more time on it, it's a little bit more story driven. It answers some of the questions, if you're a real fan of Fable, it answers some of those questions. It's going to test you a little bit emotionally as well. But I think the real unique thing here is it starts to tease and hint at what it starting to happen in the world of Albion and what is happening in the future." -- Peter Molyneux, to Kotaku
Amusingly enough, the title "See the Future" is strangely prophetic, as Molyneux alludes to what players might expect from Fable III:
"If we were to take the franchise even further, going on from Fable II, I'm not announcing anything, but if you play See the Future you're going to be getting a flavor at what's going to be happening," he said. "My ideal is what I would want to happen is something big."
Speaking of big, the rhetorical Fable III and DLC for Fable II isn't all that Lionhead has going on; it seems the studio has a non-Fable title planned:
"Lionhead shouldn't be thought of as just doing Fable," Molyneux said. "Definitely not. In fact we've been working on, working incredibly hard, on something else. We haven't been allowed to talk about that something else because the rule is we have to have something to show, to prove it. Those days of high media concept are gone now and quite rightfully so."
However, when asked if he would have something showable come E3 in June, Molyneux sort of ducked the question, instead focusing his response more on the show itself:
"It's fascinating how E3 has turned itself around," he said. "It was a show that was on its last legs and now suddenly everyone is going 'Hey, it's going to be a big E3'. I think this year E3 is going to be pretty big on announcements from everybody. It's just a perfect time in the industry. We're kind of building ourselves up and saving our energy for these big announcements.
"Walking out there talking to those developers, it's "Wow, this E3 is going to be exciting." -- Peter Molyneux on E3, to Kotaku
So, while no information is currently forthcoming as to what this non-Fable title may be, there seems to be some whispers going around the con that it will be a squad-based game; Kotaku puts forth the notion of a new Syndicate title being the possibility.
E3 isn't far away; hopefully, we'll learn more then.
