THQ has confirmed that the Saints Row 2 downloadable content scheduled for release tomorrow has indeed been delayed. The Ultor Exposed DLC has been rescheduled for release on April 23, with the same price point of 800 MS Points or $9.99 on PSN. Ultor Exposed is primed to deliver three new co-op missions, as well new hairstyles and clothing for character customization. In addition, there will be a selection of new cars and aircraft at your disposal. Not sure if it's worth $10, but hey, it's something.
Saints Row 2 was pretty well received, so it's nice to have some additional content, although it seems like THQ hardly went all out in comparison to something like Grand Theft Auto IV's Lost & Damned. To be fair, L&D had double the price point. In my opinion, DLC is the greatest asset to this console generation, as it encourages gamers to replay these games, and hopefully, extend the life of the actual disc before a sequel needs to be released. Sure, it doesn't happen that way usually, but wouldn't it be nice? While I'm not a fine of some of the more exuberant prices for some of this content, I think it's one of the truly progressive concepts in today's market, along with XBLA and WiiWare.
Now, if only publishers could deliver on the dates they set. Seriously, how many DLC delays have we had? Speaking of THQ, Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 comes to mind...
