Activision has announced the date of release for its next installment of the venerable Wolfenstein franchise. Come August 4, we will all be back to blasting Nazi zombies and rabid German Shepards, like the good gamers we are. The game is set for release on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

There appears to be some hubbub on the internets about this new iteration of the game having a "dark" color scheme and what not, having lost some of the goofy aspects of installments past. Personally, I don't give a shit either way as long as I'm blasting the hell out Nazis. I do think there is opportunity for a new, well developed storyline here, rather than the typical Nazi occult stuff, but I won't be getting my hopes up.

The market is flooded with FPS games right now, so time will tell if an old franchise like Wolfenstein will have enough new blood to rise above the rest of the flock.
