According to pre-orders of Left 4 Dead 2, the boycott is not having a negative effect on the sequel. Even with the back and forth as well as the the finger scandal with the Electronic Software Ratings Board, the game is still gathering strength. In fact, some interesting numbers are coming from Valve regarding the number of pre-orders they have received for the sequel to their hit game.
Valve marketer Doug Lombardi stated to Eurogamer: "Our pre-orders are currently double what they were for Left 4 Dead 1 at this point in time away from launch... we're like 20 weeks out or something like that." You can't blame Valve for being a little excited, ever since they have announced Left 4 Dead 2, there have been reactions from overly joyous to downright resentful.
The result of these pre-orders seems to confirm that any press is good press. Even though Valve didn't confirm any numbers, they usually aren't ones to fudge the numbers. The news comes one day after the announcement about Left 4 Dead 1 DLC. Whatever the final numbers end up being, I'm sure there will be more to this epic saga come November.
