Infinity Ward Counters Petition; Announces Server Cap
November 4, 2009 | 5:50 PM PST
A while ago, when PC gamers were given the news that there would not be dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2, all hell broke loose in the entire platform's fan base. This time it looks like everyone is taking a hit, though, with the announcement that servers will max out with 9v9 matches, on all platforms.
When asked about the 178,000 signatures requesting PC dedicated servers while partaking in a BestBuy.com community live chat, Infinity Ward's Mackey McAndlish simply responded "All I can say is that we changed it to make it a better and easier experience. Also, not all of the names on that list are legit." Infinity Ward is clearly trying to calm angered gamers, while downplaying the massive amounts of petitioned gamers.
The Infinity Ward representative continued. "402 signed it 4 times I heard," also exposing that "Games cap out at 9v9. The software has great latency tolerance." This is important hearsay since this doesn't only apply to the PC version, but also the copies that will ship on all platforms.
