A few years ago, when the Gamecube was my primary gaming console, I had the pleasure of getting Midway Arcade Treasures for Christmas. Most of the arcade games on it were a bit cheezy, but Smash TV didn't fall into that category. I can remember spending hours teaming up with my friends to kill hordes of monsters and win prizes.
In a recent podcast, Mark Turmell, a programmer of the original Smash TV said that Midway had been working on a revamp of the game before things took a turn for the worse. Turmell said that the project had actually progressed to the programming stage.
He goes on to say that he expects Smash TV "will rise again," despite Warner Bros. having taken the company over.
I don't know about you, but I can think of several ideas of what would be in such a release: full 1080p visuals; online co-op and leaderboards; the list goes on. Hopefully Warner Bros. will do something with the franchise -- it would be a shame if they didn't.
