Marvel vs. Capcom 2 vs. Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix: And the Winner is...

One game was essentially remade from the ground up, featuring remixed music, hand-drawn high-definition sprites from the artists at Udon, and fine-tuned in its gameplay. The other was pretty much a straight port of a Dreamcast game, with some filters and online play added in and everything unlocked from the start.
Guess which one sold more.
Capcom's Vice President of Strategic Planning and Business Development, Christian Svensson, revealed during his interview with GamesIndustry.biz that "[w]e have three titles that have drastically over-performed our expectations, the most recent of which was Marvel vs Capcom 2, which we didn't expect to exceed Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HG Remix's numbers, but it has."
One can only wonder now how this could affect Capcom's plans going forward, and if they might consider foregoing any more HD Remixes in favor of straight ports. That would be too bad, as I know there are those who are clamoring for a Final Fight HD Remix.
