A consumer survey put together by No Fuss Reviews reveals some rather un-shocking, yet admittedly outrageous information about the Xbox 360's failure rate. In a survey that began on July 7, 2009, and ran for over 280 days, 42% of a 500,000 people sample said their Xbox 360 had to be repaired or replaced due to fault, while only 8% and 1% said the same for their PS3 and Wii respectively.
Every time a 'yes' answer was logged, the survey continued with an extra question. The results are as follows:
If so has your [console] needed to be repaired or replaced more than once?
Xbox 360: 55%
PS3: 12%
Wii: 0%
If so has your [console] needed to be repaired or replaced more than two times?
Xbox 360: 39%
PS3: 8%
Wii: 0%
If so has your [console] needed to be repaired or replaced more than three times?
Xbox 360: 12%
PS3: 2%
Wii: 0%
If so has your [console] needed to be repaired or replaced more than four times?
Xbox 360: 6%
PS3: 1%
Wii: 0%
If so has your [console] needed to be repaired or replaced more than five times?
Xbox 360: 3%
PS3: 1%
Wii: 0%

To put things into perspective, the Xbox 360 fails over 5 times as often as the PS3 and 42 times as often as the Wii. After the first repair or replacement, the Xbox 360 fails just short of 5 times as often as the PS3 and infinitely more often than the Wii. The comparisons can continue, but let's just end it here and admit it's not pretty.
This survey and its findings are surely relatable to a good percentage of our readers, but believe it or not, this humble Kombo News Editor might just be an exception (so far). Yes, in over 4 years, I've never had a 360 RRoD on me. I have owned three different Xbox 360s, but not because any of them broke, rather because I've moved between NTSC and PAL regions. Still though, each and every time I'm enjoying a game on my Xbox 360, I fear for the worst, and that's just inexcusable.
